The North Pocono Cultural Society is pleased to bring you our virtual version of Russian Christmas 2021 beginning with the following greetings from our President, Merabeth Moore and some of our local churches, businesses and artists. Throughout the day there will be additional videos slanted towards the Russian Christmas holiday for you to view. We hope you will enjoy the celebration!
The North Pocono Cultural Society has, for years, presented Russian Christmas in Moscow for the enjoyment of our North Pocono residents. We know that you are missing all your face-to-face events and we are too! But we are happy that we are able to put together a virtual Russian Christmas in Moscow event for you. It will be available on the facebook page on Thursday, January 7th . We wish you could still taste the wonderful Borsht made by Frank Goryl served up at at Moscow Clayworks or the nutty, buttery Russian Teacakes made by Maron Craig Bielovitz and offered up along with a shot of Russian Vodka at Matthews Hardware on Main Street but we hope you will enjoy the snippets of our event that we are able to re-create for you this year!!
Let us not forget that we will have more fun things to look forward to in 2021. Here's a message from one of our talented North Pocono students to tell us about something good...
Each year the Russian Christmas crowds got larger. The weather didn't deter the hardy folks of North Pocono and beyond from bundling up and taking to Main Street where they visited each participating venue along the way. A favorite stop was always Matthews Hardware Store where they could check out the artistry of Judith Youshock and Maron Bielovitz and warm up with a shot of Russian Vodka while snacking on buttery Russian Teacakes! We can't offer virtual Vodka and cookies but we can prompt you to bake some treats for yourself with Maron's recipe...enjoy!
We are so fortunate to have the North Pocono Public Library as a partner in many of our activities and events. Join Elizabeth now for a fun craft!
Our friend, Babushka, a wonderful storyteller, has a fun Russian Folk Tale for children of all ages...enjoy!
